Electric vehicles and jobs
Electric vehicles have the ability to reduce emissions when compared to traditional vehicles.
The efficiency of an electric car is 80% compared to an internal combustion car of 20%. And, as Brazil’s power matrix is basically renewable (85% water, wind and sun), the result is great!
However, opposing positions are already emerging.
The main “against” narrative concerns the severe reduction in jobs in the automotive sector as an electric car incorporates significantly fewer parts and its assembly is simpler than a traditional car.
So what do we want?
Take advantage of our potential to successfully combine the electric car with our renewable energy matrix while reducing emissions or maintain the production of traditional cars to save jobs?
If the answer is to save jobs, perhaps we could, in the same token, advocate the return of elevator (residential buildings) operators.
