Germany is poised to surpass the 50% threshold in its renewable energy generation this year, as per Economy Minister Robert Habeck. Nevertheless, Minister Habeck emphasized the need for an accelerated transition toward the end of the decade, aiming to have renewables constitute a substantial 80% of the country’s power generation by 2030. Speaking at a conference organized by the Heinrich Boell Foundation in Berlin, Minister Habeck highlighted the remarkable growth in the solar power sector, with the anticipated achievement of this year’s 9-gigawatt capacity target.
Additionally, he noted the impressive progress in expanding onshore wind energy, with volumes for the entire year of 2022 already attained by the close of July 2023. However, the expansion of offshore wind energy faces challenges due to a shortage of essential components required for constructing the facilities, according to Minister Habeck
