Free residential energy users only in 2028

The free electricity market for the residential sector in Brazil should only be available from 2028 onwards.

What to expect?

The answer is still “complicated”. We do not know what price offer the free market will present for the residential sector. Will there be a really attractive economy with respect to the regulated rates?

The question is pertinent.

The free market for the corporate and institutional sector has been able to offer a great cost advantage over regulated tariffs. But, of course, these are “high” energy unitary volumes for a relatively small universe of consumers compared to the residential sector, which has a large number of potencial clients and small unitary volume.

As the Brazilian electricity sector is not exactly centred on predictability, we will remain in doubt till then!
