It’s sunny now, but the third and final storm in this week’s winter series is winding its way through California now and heading our way. Mountain snow and valley showers should be here by noon to early afternoon, with breezy to gusty winds to follow into tonight. Highs will reach just near 50 degrees for most valley neighborhoods. Thanks to the colder air, far west and south neighborhoods near the 215 Southern Beltway and the foothills could see a mix of rain and snow, or even just light snow at times.
*Winter Storm Warning issued for the Spring Mountains (including Mt. Charleston) from 10 a.m. until 4 a.m. Friday
*Winter Weather Advisory for the Sheep Mountains to the north (no one lives up there)
*A Wind Advisory has been issued for Central Clark County (including Las Vegas, Searchlight, Primm, & the Moapa Valley), Mohave County (Kingman), from 4 p.m. until 4 a.m. Friday
As valley showers and mountain snow spread into southern Nevada, gusty winds will increase across the area. Stronger winds will blow across I-15 in areas from Barstow to Baker this morning, increasing travel hazards. With lower snow levels expected again, too, areas like Mountain Pass, CA, could see accumulating snow, causing travel issues and possible road closures or detours.

Las Vegas prepares for cold snap, snow possible Thursday
Valley winds will increase later today and tonight, with stronger downslope winds in the mountains that could reach 55 mph in foothill neighborhoods. Otherwise, gusts to 40 are expected in most other areas of the valley. Rain totals could reach .25″ in some lower elevations. Snow totals could measure another foot or more again up at Lee Canyon. This storm should wrap up through the night.

Highs will stay extra cool through Saturday, then warm back to the 60s by Sunday, with springlike 70s returning next week! A chance of showers later next week is possible, but too early to know for sure.
