In Cambodia, cassava farmers are looking to the government to help support them as prices collapse. Prices are about half what they were last year but the government blames low prices on poor storage capacity that seriously impacts the quality of stored cassava. A joint venture with Thailand’s Ubon Biro Ethanol with local company Try Pheap Import Export Group will produce ethanol from cassava and help to boost low prices but the plant is not yet online.
