India’s Uttar Pradesh state is set to deploy 3500 MW in biomass cogeneration projects by 2022, a newly released paper says.
The paper, ‘Roadmap for tapping renewable energy potential in Uttar Pradesh’, was issued this week by trade group the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). It said the state also plans to install 25 MW of small hydropower and over 10 GW of solar.
The paper said there is ‘a huge scope to upscale renewable energy for meeting both electricity and thermal energy requirements in Uttar Pradesh’.
However, there is ‘a grave need to mobilise huge investments for the industry to realise its true potential’, ASSOCHAM Secretary General D S Rawat added.
