Combine this positive news with the likelihood of an important Production Tax Credit extension and the promising opportunity to be a major solution for states to comply with the Clean Power Plan, and I’ll say again what I’ve said before; we’re on the cusp of greatness.
A new generation has arrived for wind energy and that realization is being woven into next year’s AWEA WINDPOWER 2016 Conference & Exhibition. The people and technology of the industry are altering the course of the power sector and the largest annual wind energy conference in the U.S. needs to reflect that.
With input from a broad spectrum of WINDPOWER exhibitors and attendees, you’re going to see a new event. By creating a more open and inclusive environment, we’re giving you more access to the expertise, innovation, and potential relationships available at WINDPOWER to help your company generate solutions, business, and ideas that will power your success in the years to come.
Last week, during the AWEA Wind Energy Fall Symposium, I announced how WINDPOWER 2016 is transforming.
First, we want you to have a unified and shared experience. That means there will be one affordable price for an inclusive pass that gives everyone access to all the education, exhibition, and key networking events. To that end, we are moving all the education sessions to the show floor.
Second, we’re expanding the exhibition experience. With all attendees on the show floor, there will be more opportunity for companies and registrants alike to make connections. We’re also encouraging a wider breadth of industry representation by creating a small business pavilion, a new product showcase, and targeted industry sectors. Exhibition will be open to non-AWEA members for the first time, and exhibitors will the have chance to demonstrate their innovative ideas on education stages around the hall.
Lastly, we’re setting a path for the next generation. Our Emerging Leaders Program made its first WINDPOWER appearance in 2015, and we’ll be growing the program in 2016 to connect more up-and-coming leaders with seasoned executives. We’ll also be hosting the Department of Energy Collegiate Wind Competition on the show floor this year, which is critical in fostering a new generation of technical experts.
Registration has just opened and is $395 for AWEA members and $595 for nonmembers. The first 300 registrants using promo code “EARLY” can also save 20%.
It’s going to be a great year for WINDPOWER and I look forward to seeing you next May 23-26 in New Orleans.
