In Kenya, more than $2 million worth of smuggled ethanol was confiscated at Mombasa Port between October and December. The country’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission said 11 companies and 33 individuals had been discovered as part of the scam that also included illegally importing sugar from Brazil. The agency has vowed the perpetrators will be charged and arrested for the crimes. Kenya was not the expected final destination for the 64 containers of ethanol but neighboring countries.
